Certificate Term, Cancellation and Revocation Policy

The conditions under which an FVR certificate stays valid, is suspended or is revoked. An active subscription is a condition of continued validity for personnel certificates.

1People (ISO/IEC 17024)

For an FVR individual competence certificate to stay valid, the certified person must:

  • Maintain an active subscription to the plan that enabled them to sit the assessment.
  • Comply with the Code of Ethics for Certified Professionals.
  • Not engage in misuse of the certification mark.
  • Keep payment of the corresponding plan up to date.

2Suspension and revocation — people

Following cancellation or non-payment, FVR grants a grace period of 30 calendar days. During this period the certificate is considered suspended. Once the period lapses without reactivation, formal revocation begins.

Other grounds for revocation:

  • Misuse of the certification mark.
  • Documented unethical conduct.
  • Material changes to the standard without reassessment within the established period.

3Companies (ISO/IEC 17021-1)

A management system certificate issued under 17021-1 stays valid throughout its term (3 years), provided the organization meets:

  • Scheduled annual surveillance audits.
  • Payment of the fees corresponding to the surveillance audits.
  • Continued compliance with the certified standard.

Missing a surveillance audit or failing to pay will trigger suspension and, eventually, revocation.

4Notice and right of reply

Notice prior to revocation is given according to the certification line:

  • Companies (ISO/IEC 17021-1): FVR gives written notice by email at least 15 calendar days in advance so the organization can present its response.
  • People (ISO/IEC 17024): FVR gives notice when the subscription lapses and allows a 30 calendar day grace period to reactivate it before proceeding with revocation.

In both cases, the individual or organization has the right to file a claim through the complaints and appeals channel.

5Effects of revocation

  • The certificate's status — valid, suspended or revoked — is recorded and can be checked publicly in the FVR verifier, using the QR code on the certificate itself or its reference number.
  • The individual/company must immediately cease using the FVR certification mark.
  • The physical/digital certificate ceases to be valid for verification.

6Reinstatement

  • People: after 12 calendar months, by sitting the full assessment again.
  • Companies: a complete stage 2 audit, with no discounts for the previous revocation.
